Airports – Ports – Stations

Airports, ports, train stations meet almost all circumstances to be classified as LAU facilities. First, these facilities may be for the storage (Lagerung) “L” of substances hazardous to water. At the very least, it cannot be ruled out that the cargoes are hazardous to water. Furthermore, these areas can be used for the filling (Abfüllung) “A” of fuels, and ultimately water-polluting substances can be handled (umgeschlagen) “U” on these areas.

Thus, the principle of concern, which is formulated in § 32 and § 48 WHG, applies in particular to all these areas and places strict requirements on the operator and all other persons working at the facility. In terms of planning, construction, operation and decommissioning.

The general regulation is TRwS DWA -A 779 (Technical Rules for Substances Hazardous to Water – General Technical Regulations) which states:

Plant components must be sufficiently resistant and tight against the expected mechanical, physical, chemical and thermal influences. Resistance must be demonstrated for the intended service life!”

In detail, the more extensive regulations with specific information on the execution of drainage systems apply.

  • DWA-A 781 (TRwS 781) : applies to filling stations for motor vehicles
  • DWA-A 782 (TRwS 782) : applies to refueling areas of rail vehicles (trains etc.)
  • DWA-A 783 (TRwS 783) : applies to refueling areas of watercraft (ships etc. )
  • DWA-A 784 (TRwS 784) : applies to refueling areas of aircraft (airplanes etc.)

All of these regulations generally require double-walled tanks and at least fully welded or bonded drainage piping.

Sabug offers the right systems for the discharge and storage of these substances with the highest safety requirements according to WHG.
