Floodplains and pressing groundwater

Climate change is progressing. Rain events become heavier. Groundwater levels are rising in more and more areas in Germany. Heavy rain events flood entire land lines. In the past, this noticeably affected only areas that were located directly in floodplains or were hydraulically connected there.

Today, this applies to many residential areas and also industrial areas. In wastewater systems that are temporarily or permanently located in groundwater, all rubber sealing elements are subjected to external hydrostatic pressure – contrary to their intended use. Modern lip seals are designed to have low insertion force during assembly in addition to sealing against internal pressure. Thus we accept that the external pressure must not be too high to remain tight.

Leaks due to external pressure are predictable.

By welding the pipe sockets, these infiltrations into the pipelines can be safely and permanently prevented.
